laser engraving and laser etching is small in size, it could be good idea to get the work done on a job-work basis.

When I got rid of my out-dated stamping system, I was told that there are laser etching devices now available that can be used to mark the surface of a wide range of materials like plastics made of different polymers, metals and ceramics. The idea is to remove the material of the surface by means of a laser beam so that the surface is discolored or to evaporate the material so that it is etched. Important information such as the barcode, logo or company insignia or batch code etc. can be etched by using a laser etching machine.
Laser Engraving and Laser Etching are one and the same processes except that the term ‘laser engraving’ is used more for metals than other materials. One can either have in-house laser engraving and laser etching line that can be integrated with the production line or you can get the laser etching work done from professionals who take up the job on a contract basis. If the product or part of the product that requires laser engraving and laser etching is small in size, it could be good idea to get the work done on a job-work basis.
In fact that is what I did. Only after getting the work done from a professional contractor for Laser Engraving and Laser Etching for some time, I was quite satisfied with how the machine worked and the results achieved that I thought of buying the Laser Etching system for my own industry. The new Laser Engraving and Laser Etching is now installed and will soon start production.

Laser engraving are interchangeable terms

After using a mechanical stamping fixture to mark the automatic food packaging line for several years, I found that the newer faster packaging systems required a more sophisticated marking system , That was what I was looking for when I came across many laser marking or laser engraving systems that could be fully integrated into an automatic food packaging line.
I was really amazed at the range of laser marking products that were available in the market that could fulfill all sorts of requirements and could also be used separately at a laser marking station rather than be integrated into the system. The standalone marking station had its own advantage because then the speed did not have to match with the speed of the packaging system. The laser marking was clear and could not be erased by friction or chemicals.
Since laser marking and laser engraving are interchangeable terms, it is important to understand that this system does not require any inks or any other consumables. Laser engraving is done with the help of a sharp laser beam that removes the outermost layer of a multi-layered plastic film to give the effect of etching which could be a reflective coating or a plastic lamination. Since there is no contact with the surface, there is no abrasion or wearing of the film.

Laser marking or laser engraving machines have caused a revolution in the packaging industry where there is a need to mark the product with mandatory information that is required by regulatory governmental authority. These are not only efficient but also easy to install and work on Windows systems. I was very happy to get a laser engraving system for my packaging line.
